Richie Ashburn Golf Classic

This golf outing was created more than 30 years by our great friend Richie Ashburn, a National Baseball League Hall of Fame inductee (1995), veteran broadcaster (Philadelphia Phillies), and one of the most beloved sports figures in Philadelphia history. The tournament historically began as a means of supporting differently abled Scouts and those with special needs. While these units are no longer functioning, the tournament continues to serve its mission of providing opportunities to young people in challenging circumstances.

Bob Lux Memorial Outing for Scouting

Bob Lux was a devoted volunteer who gave selflessly of his time, talent and treasure for more than 30 years to Scouting. His commitment was second to none and his service was invaluable. Bob profoundly epitomized the Scout Oath and Law and made such an immeasurable impact on the lives of tens of thousands of young people through his unwavering dedication to Scouting in Philadelphia. As the council’s newest outing, this event attracts numerous members of the Healthcare Industry and individuals who are committed to providing opportunities for young people who otherwise would not have the opportunity to participate in Scouting.

Corporate Campfire Gala

The Cradle of Liberty Council serves thousands of young people across Philadelphia, Delaware, and Montgomery counties through programs that build character, foster participating citizenship, and encourage physical fitness. As the organization’s signature gala, the Corporate Campfire recognizes business and community leaders who exemplify the ideals of the Scout Oath and Law. This event brings together leaders from the construction and real estate, health and pharmaceutical, communications and media, and legal and consulting industries to recognize leaders in their fields.

Sousa Bowl

Join the Cradle of Liberty Council and shooters from across the region to compete in the first annual Sousa Bowl, honoring none other than the father of trap shooting, John Philip Sousa! We supply the targets, ammunition and entertainment! Proceeds from this event directly support Cradle of Liberty Council’s After-School Scouting Program, which provides Scouting programs to communities who otherwise might not have the opportunity to participate.

Sporting Clays Classic

October 5, 2021 | Lehigh Valley Sporting Clays

The Lehigh Valley Sporting Clays facility combines the fun of shooting over water, at fast targets, through trees, in open fields and around historic buildings. The course is designed to entice beginners and challenge the masters. The 17-station Sporting Clays course is set around a 125-acre abandoned quarry that offers an unparalleled atmosphere and a truly unique shooting experience. Proceeds from this event directly support the council’s After-School Scouting Program.

Delaware County “Good Scout” Award Reception

The Delaware County “Good Scout” Award is presented to an individual who exemplifies in his or her daily life the ideals of the Boy Scouts of America as expressed in the Scout Oath and Law. The recipient is chosen for outstanding service to the community at large, as well as the respect and esteem in which he or she is held by those in the community. 

Malcolm A. Schweiker Century Club “Good Scout” Award Dinner

This dinner honors an individual from the Upper Montgomery County Community with the “Good Scout” Award. The award is given to individuals that live their life and lead their organizations through the ideals of the Scout Law. The Scout Law is a series of core values that we teach our youth that include words such as trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous and kind.

Robert Morris “Good Scout” Award Reception

This reception honors an individual from the Main Line community with the “Good Scout” Award. Award recipients are chosen on the basis of integrity, citizenship, a love of country, adherence to the American way of life and strong ethics, and a fervent belief in America’s future. Recipients have demonstrated, through civic and community action, their leadership in a business or professional field and their strong support of those programs which aid America’s youth in preparing for adulthood.

Edward Town Taws Community Service Award Reception
