Scouting’s Flagship event is one-of-a-kind. It’s a gathering of approximately 40,000 Scouts, leaders, and staff that showcases everything that is great about the BSA and its members. Held every four years, the Jamboree is an amazing opportunity for participants, volunteers, and visitors to experience the best of Scouting, all in one place. Features include; one of the longest zip line courses in North America, a world-class skate park, ATV offerings, treetop canopy tours, biking trails, a water park, rock climbing, patch trading, stadium shows, and much more!
Dates: July 21 to July 30, 2021, possibly leaving the evening of July 20, 2021.
Location: Summit Bechtel Reserve, Beckley, West Virginia
Cost: $1,800, including $300 deposit and subsequent payments of $100 per month for fifteen months. Scouts signing up late will be expected to catch up within three months. Refunds will be available except for the first $50 anytime in 2020, and in 2021 once again less the first $50 and when a replacement scout is found. Payments must be completed by March 31, 2021.
Included: National Jamboree fee, coach transportation, meals, uniform patches, duffle bag, day pack, mess kit, neckerchief, hat, name tag, t-shirts.
Troops: Cradle of Liberty has reserved nine troops consisting of four Adult Scoutmasters and thirty-six youths for each troop. Units will be formed based roughly on District boundaries, with one unit reserved for Scouts BSA females. The nine SMs have already been interviewed and selected.
Youth Qualifications: Scouts attending the Jamboree must be twelve years of age and First Class by July 21, 2021 and not yet eighteen years old by July 30, 2021. There is a lot of walking involved at the Jamboree so scouts must be in good physical condition and will be required to submit a completed online Jamboree Medical Form. Scouts must be approved by their Scoutmaster and Cradle of Liberty Council, abide by the Scout Oath and Law at all times, attend monthly Jamboree Troop meetings, and attend the “shakedown” weekend.
Registration: Should open in December 2019 and, after registering on the National Site, families must mail their $300 deposit and Request to Attend form (link to download to your computer) with signatures and registration code to Cradle of Liberty Council, 1485 Valley Forge Road, Wayne, PA 19087. Cradle of Liberty Council has had a full contingent for every Jamboree, so please don’t delay and miss the opportunity to attend.
