Resica Falls to recieve addition to Dining Hall due to generous support from Dr. Templeton.
John M Templeton Jr. MD chairman of the health and safety committee has agreed to fund the new expansion on the Resica Falls dining hall! Dr. Templeton has been a life long supporter of Scouting. When asked to support this project he reflected upon the difficult economy and the compared it with the influence Scouting has on the boys involved. Two weeks later, after carefully weighing the situation, he committed his support to the project. The addition will be named in honor of his father the late Sir John Templeton.

NEW NELSON TRAINING CENTER

Many hands make light work, and that's how Scouting has succeeded for 100 years. Scout volunteers are called "Scouters." Scouters contribute their time, effort and contributions to help local Scout troops packs and crews. Scouters also volunteer to assist with the larger Scouting community. They run training courses, serve on activity committees, advancement boards, executive boards, and in just about every aspect of the Scouting program. These pages are for the Scouters interested in the largers Scouting community, often refered to as "the council."

Scouters, Please review this page closely as there are several new updates. Including a Blog to increase our communication around the Scouters Summit Conversation, New Unit Registration Fee, and updates to the Nelson Training Facilities

The benchmark program allows all Scouters to follow the success of the council through quarterly reports. Each District has built benchmarks as well to help ensure the overall success of the council. Click here to review council benchmarks, and visit district web pages to view District benchmarks.

Inner City Scouting:
Is a major priortiy and concern for the entire Scouting community. The ScoutReach program has been thriving for the past few years through a strong staff effort, ScoutReach volunteers, and the generosity of hundreds of Scouters who contribute their gently used Scout Uniforms and camping gear.

However, it remains a difficult and expensive area to serve. As we strive to make the council more self sufficient we must look to the overall costs of inner city Scouting.

The next step in strengthening inner city Scouting will be developed by a group of volunteers who serve thoughout all aspects of Scouting, particularly, Triune and Northern.

New Registration Costs
The BSA Executive Board unanimously passed a resolution at the business meeting on May 22 to increase the traditional membership registration fee for all youth and adults to $15 from its current $10, effective Jan. 1, 2010. The last fee increase, which was from $7 to $10, was in 2003. The Exploring fee remains $10.
A great deal of thought and consideration went into this decision by both the Executive Board and the Membership Fee Task Force led by National Commissioner Tico Perez. Consideration was given to an expected deficit to the National Council operating budget, the impact to program and council support, the necessary funding required over the next several years, the cost of implementing fee increases annually in systems and forms, as well as the overall fees paid by councils. Input was sought and received from staff and volunteers at the council level. Finally, given all these considerations, it was determined that the best approach was to increase the fee to the level chosen and make every effort to hold that level for a period of at least three years.
